Method

Shrimp Preparation

  1. 1

    Marinate the Shrimp

In a bowl, combine the large shrimp with lemon juice, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to ensure the shrimp are evenly coated. Cover and let marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.

Breading

  1. 2

    Prepare the Breading Station

Set up a breading station with three shallow dishes. In the first dish, add the all-purpose flour. In the second dish, whisk together the eggs and milk. In the third dish, combine the cornmeal with a pinch of salt.

  2. 3

    Bread the Shrimp

Take each marinated shrimp, dredge it in the flour, dip it in the egg mixture, and then coat it with the cornmeal. Ensure each shrimp is well-coated in cornmeal for a crispy texture.

Frying

  1. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can test the oil by dropping a small piece of bread into it; if it sizzles and turns golden brown, the oil is ready.

  2. 5

    Fry the Shrimp

Carefully add the breaded shrimp to the hot oil in batches. Fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy. Use a slotted spoon to remove the shrimp and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Serving

  1. 6

    Serve the Shrimp Basket

Arrange the fried shrimp in a basket and serve hot with lemon wedges and tartar sauce on the side for dipping.
