Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ingredients

Gather all ingredients including Texas Toast, sliced ham or bacon, and cheddar cheese. Make sure the butter is softened for easy spreading.

  2. 2

    Cook the Bacon (if using)

If using bacon, cook it in a skillet over medium heat until crispy. Remove from skillet and place it on paper towels to drain excess grease.

Grilling

  1. 3

    Butter the Texas Toast

Spread 1 tablespoon of butter on one side of each slice of Texas Toast. This will help achieve a golden brown crust when grilled.

  2. 4

    Assemble the Sandwich

On the unbuttered side of two slices of Texas Toast, layer the sliced ham or bacon, followed by a slice of cheddar cheese. Top with the other two slices of Texas Toast, buttered side facing out.

  3. 5

    Grill the Sandwiches

Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat. Place the assembled sandwiches in the skillet, and grill for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.

Serving

  1. 6

    Slice and Serve

Once grilled, remove the sandwiches from the skillet and let them rest for a minute. Cut each sandwich in half and serve hot.
