Biscuit & Gravy
Method
Preparation
Make the Biscuits
Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in milk until just combined. Turn onto a floured surface, knead gently, and roll out to 1 inch thick. Cut into rounds and place on a baking sheet. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden.
Prepare the Chicken Thighs
Season chicken thighs with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. In a skillet, cook over medium heat until browned and cooked through, about 6-8 minutes per side. Remove from heat and let rest.
Cook the Bacon
In the same skillet, cook the bacon until crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
Make the Gravy
In the remaining bacon grease, add sausage and cook until browned. Sprinkle with flour and stir to combine. Gradually add milk, stirring constantly until thickened. Season with black pepper.
Assemble the Dish
Split the biscuits in half. On the bottom half, place a piece of chicken, a slice of bacon, a slice of American cheese, and a fried egg. Drizzle with country gravy. Top with the other half of the biscuit and serve.
