Base Ice Cream Scoops
Cup or Cone
Free Topping (choose one)
Optional Add-ons (not included)
Method
Base Ice Cream Scoops
Soften (if needed)
If ice cream is rock hard, let the pint sit at room temperature for 2–3 minutes so scooping is easy but it stays firm for kids. Do not melt.
Using a standard ice cream scoop or a large spoon, level one scoop at a time. Place the first scoop in the center of the cup or into the cone. If serving two scoops, nest the second scoop slightly touching the first so they sit stably.
Cup or Cone
If using a paper cup, hold it steady on a flat surface while scooping. If using a cone, hold the cone gently by the base to avoid crushing it.
Free Topping (choose one)
Choose one free topping from the list. For sauces (chocolate, strawberry, caramel), drizzle approximately 1 tablespoon over the top of the scoop(s). For sprinkles, chocolate chips or crushed cookies, sprinkle about 1 teaspoon to 1 tablespoon evenly across the top. For whipped cream, add 1 tablespoon on top and optionally garnish with a cherry.
Optional Add-ons (not included)
If the guest requests a cherry or napkin, add the maraschino cherry on top of the whipped cream or directly on the scoop and provide a napkin.
Serving
Serve immediately to ensure scoops remain firm. Give a spoon if served in a cup. Remind caregiver that this is a kids portion (2 scoops or 1 scoop depending on choice) and includes one free topping.
