Base & Sweetener

Caffeine & Amino Boost

Method

Base & Sweetener

1

Make simple syrup

Combine 1 cup filtered water and 1 cup cane sugar in a small saucepan. Warm over medium heat, stirring until the sugar fully dissolves and the liquid is clear (do not boil aggressively). Remove from heat and stir in 2 tablespoons honey until incorporated. Let the syrup cool to warm/room temperature.

Electrolyte & Mineral Blend

2

In a small bowl or measuring cup, dissolve 1 teaspoon sea salt, 1 teaspoon potassium chloride, and 1 teaspoon magnesium citrate powder into 1/4 cup warm water, stirring until fully dissolved. This creates a concentrated electrolyte solution. If magnesium citrate is gritty, dissolve thoroughly and strain if needed.

Caffeine & Amino Boost

3

Dissolve 1 teaspoon instant coffee and 1 teaspoon matcha powder (or add equivalent green tea concentrate) into 1/4 cup warm water. Stir until smooth and free of lumps. Allow to cool. If using caffeine powders, measure carefully with a scale and follow safety guidelines. Add taurine and L‑carnitine powders (each 500 mg) to the cooled mixture and stir until dissolved.

Acid, Flavor & Preservative

4

Combine 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice, 1/4 cup fresh lime juice, and 1/2 teaspoon orange extract (or 1/4 cup fresh orange juice) in a pitcher. Stir in 1 teaspoon citric acid if using for brightness and preservation and mix until dissolved.

Clarify & Finish

5

In a 2‑quart (about 8 cups) pitcher, add the cooled simple syrup, the electrolyte solution, the caffeine/amino mixture, and the citrus/fruit juice blend. Stir thoroughly to combine. Add 4 cups filtered water (the remaining water: 2 cups cold water plus the 2 cups used as base and dilution) to bring the volume and dilute the concentrate to taste. Taste and adjust: add more water if too strong, more syrup if too tart, or more citrus if too sweet.

6

Chill the combined beverage in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour. Serve over ice if desired and garnish with fresh mint or basil leaves. Store covered in the refrigerator and consume within 3–4 days. Shake or stir before serving as some minerals may settle.
