Cocktail

Method

Cocktail

1

Chill the glass

Place a coupe or martini glass in the freezer or fill with ice water while you prepare the cocktail to chill it.

2

In a cocktail shaker, add 4 thin cucumber slices and the lime juice. Muddle gently 6–8 times to release cucumber juice and aromatics without pulverizing the cucumber into mush.

3

Add Hendrick's Gin (1 oz), Tequila Ocho Plata (0.5 oz), Fino Sherry (0.5 oz), Dry Vermouth (0.5 oz), St. Germain (0.5 oz), and simple syrup (0.25 oz) to the shaker.

4

Fill the shaker with ice (enough to mostly fill it). Seal and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the shaker is cold to the touch. This both chills and slightly dilutes to balance the spirit-forward mix.

5

Empty the ice or water from your chilled glass. Double-strain the cocktail into the chilled coupe or martini glass using both the shaker strainer and a fine mesh strainer to remove cucumber bits and any small ice shards.

Cucumber & Aromatics

6

Take one thin long cucumber ribbon and thread or twist it to form a loose coil or fan. If desired, run the ribbon around the inside rim of the glass briefly to impart fresh cucumber aroma.

7

Float the cucumber ribbon on the surface of the cocktail or perch it on the rim.

8

Finish with a light pinch of cracked black pepper over the top if you want a subtle savory contrast to the elderflower sweetness.

Finish

9

Garnish with an edible flower or a small sprig of mint perched alongside the cucumber ribbon for visual appeal (optional).

10

Serve immediately while chilled. Sip and note the interplay of floral elderflower, cool cucumber, bright lime, and the layered spirits (gin, tequila, fortified sherry and vermouth).
