Method
Prepare Citrus Base
Juice the fruit
Juice the oranges and grapefruit using a citrus juicer or by hand until you have about 2 cups of combined juice (1.5 cups orange + 0.5 cup grapefruit). Measure and pour into a large mixing pitcher. Add the 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice and stir to combine.
Taste the citrus mixture; it should be bright and slightly tart. Adjust balance with a little more orange or a teaspoon of honey if too tart.
Add Boosters
Dissolve powders and honey
Add 2 teaspoons honey (or maple syrup), 1 teaspoon acerola or camu camu powder, 1 teaspoon turmeric powder, and the pinch of freshly ground black pepper to the citrus base. Stir briskly to dissolve. The black pepper increases turmeric absorption.
Incorporate fresh ginger
Grate about 1 teaspoon fresh peeled ginger directly into the pitcher and stir. If you prefer less bite, steep grated ginger in a little warm water for 2–3 minutes, then strain and add the liquid instead.
Combine & Chill
Add 1 cup cold water to the pitcher and stir thoroughly to combine all ingredients. Taste and adjust sweetness with up to 1 additional teaspoon honey if desired.
Add 1 cup ice cubes to the pitcher to chill quickly. If you prefer a fizzy drink, substitute the 1 cup cold water for 1 cup sparkling water and add the ice after mixing to retain carbonation.
Let the drink rest 2–3 minutes to allow flavors (ginger and turmeric) to meld and for powders to hydrate fully.
Serve
Pour the Super Vitamin C into two glasses over remaining ice. Garnish each glass with a lemon or orange wheel and 2 mint leaves if using.
Stir lightly before drinking. Consume immediately for maximum vitamin C potency; store any leftovers in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours.
