Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Combine Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt until evenly mixed.

  2. 2

    Mix Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, combine the milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Whisk until smooth.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Combine Mixtures

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Stir gently until just combined; do not overmix. The batter should be slightly lumpy.

  2. 4

    Preheat Pan

Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat and lightly grease with butter or oil.

  3. 5

    Cook Pancakes

For each pancake, pour about 1/4 cup of batter onto the skillet. Cook until bubbles form on the surface and the edges look set, about 2-3 minutes. Flip and cook until golden brown on the other side, about 1-2 minutes.

  4. 6

    Serve

Remove the pancakes from the skillet and keep warm. Repeat with the remaining batter. Serve warm topped with butter and maple syrup to taste.
