Method
Flatbread Preparation
- 1
Activate the Yeast
In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- 2
Mix Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Create a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil.
- 3
Knead the Dough
Mix until a dough forms, then transfer it to a floured surface. Knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- 4
Let the Dough Rise
Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with a clean cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- 5
Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) while the dough is rising.
Assembling the Flatbread
- 6
Shape the Flatbread
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into two equal portions. Roll each portion into a flat circle or rectangle, about 1/4 inch thick.
- 7
Add Toppings
Transfer the flatbread to a baking sheet or pizza stone. Layer with desired toppings: first spread the shredded mozzarella cheese, then add pepperoni, sliced onions, bell peppers, diced tomatoes, and black olives.
- 8
Bake the Flatbread
Place the flatbread in the preheated oven and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
- 9
Cool and Slice
Remove the flatbread from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Slice and serve warm.
