Directions

1

Prepare the Potatoes

Peel and slice the potatoes thinly, about 1/8 inch thick. Rinse them under cold water to remove excess starch, then drain and set aside.

2

Make the Cream Mixture

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant. Stir in heavy cream, salt, black pepper, and nutmeg. Bring to a simmer, then remove from heat and stir in the cheddar cheese until melted and smooth.

3

Layer the Potatoes

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). In a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, arrange half of the sliced potatoes in an even layer. Pour half of the cheese sauce over the potatoes. Repeat with the remaining potatoes and cheese sauce.

4

Bake the Au Gratin

Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes. Remove the foil, sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese on top, and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the top is golden brown and bubbly.

5

Garnish and Serve

Once baked, remove from the oven and let it cool for about 10 minutes. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving.
