Sparkling Water
Method
Sparkling Water
Chill glass and ingredients
If possible, chill the serving glass in the refrigerator or freezer for 5β10 minutes so the drink stays colder longer. Keep the sparkling water cold in the refrigerator until just before serving.
Prepare ice and citrus
Place 3β4 ice cubes into the chilled serving glass. Cut a fresh lemon wedge and lime wedge if not already prepared. If you prefer a brighter citrus flavor, squeeze the lemon wedge and lime wedge lightly over the glass to release 1β2 teaspoons of juice, then drop both wedges into the glass.
Add optional sweetness
If you want a slightly sweetened sparkling water, add 1 teaspoon simple syrup to the glass. Stir gently to start dissolving the syrup in the cold water that will be added.
Pour sparkling water
Slowly pour 2 cups (about 480 ml) of cold sparkling water into the glass over the ice to preserve carbonation. Pour gently down the side of the glass to reduce foaming and bubble loss.
Add mint and garnish
Tear the mint leaves once (or clap them between your palms) to release aroma and drop them into the glass. Garnish with a thin citrus wheel on the rim or floated on top.
Final stir and serve
Give the drink one gentle stir with a spoon or straw to mix the citrus, syrup (if used), and mint without flattening the bubbles. Serve immediately so the water remains sparkling.
