Prepare the Burger Patties

Mix the Ingredients
In a large bowl, combine ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix until just combined; avoid over-mixing.

Shape the Patties
Form the mixture into 4 equal patties, about ¾ inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent bulging during cooking.
Sauté the Mushrooms

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat.

Add Cheese
After flipping, place a slice of Swiss cheese on each patty. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the burger is cooked to your desired doneness.
Assemble the Burgers

Prepare the Buns
Toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until lightly golden.

Layer the Ingredients
On the bottom half of each bun, place a lettuce leaf, then the cooked burger patty with melted Swiss cheese, sautéed mushrooms, sliced tomato, and purple onion.

Top with the other half of the bun and serve immediately.
