Sandwich Components

Method

Preparing the Au Jus

  1. 1

    Sauté Onion and Garlic

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, add a splash of oil and sauté the thinly sliced onion until translucent, about 5 minutes. Add minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

  2. 2

    Add Broth and Seasonings

Pour in the beef broth and add Worcestershire sauce, black pepper, and salt. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer and let it cook for about 10-15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

Assembling the Sandwich

  1. 3

    Prepare the Rib Eye

While the au jus simmers, heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the shaved rib eye steak to the skillet and cook until browned, about 4-5 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  2. 4

    Build the Sandwich

Slice the baguette lengthwise, leaving one side hinged. Layer the cooked rib eye in the baguette and top with Swiss cheese slices.

  3. 5

    Melt the Cheese

Place the assembled sandwich under a broiler for 2-3 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Serving

  1. 6

    Serve with Au Jus

Cut the sandwich into manageable sections. Serve hot with the au jus on the side for dipping.
