Dry Ingredients

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure it's hot enough for baking the cookies.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and ground cinnamon until well combined.

  3. 3

    Cream Butter and Sugars

In a separate bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy.

  4. 4

    Add Wet Ingredients

Beat in the vanilla extract and egg into the creamed butter and sugar mixture until fully incorporated.

  5. 5

    Combine Mixtures

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

  6. 6

    Add Mix-ins

Fold in the chocolate chips and chopped nuts (if using) until evenly distributed in the dough.

Baking

  1. 7

    Scoop the Dough

Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop rounded balls of cookie dough onto a parchment-lined baking sheet, leaving space between each for spreading.

  2. 8

    Bake the Cookies

Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden and the centers are set.

  3. 9

    Cool the Cookies

Remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
