Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure it's hot enough for baking the cookies.

Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and ground cinnamon until well combined.

Cream Butter and Sugars
In a separate bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy.

Combine Mixtures
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

Fold in the chocolate chips and chopped nuts (if using) until evenly distributed in the dough.
Baking

Scoop the Dough
Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop rounded balls of cookie dough onto a parchment-lined baking sheet, leaving space between each for spreading.

Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden and the centers are set.
