Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.

  2. 2

    Make the Brownie Layer

In a medium saucepan, melt 1 cup of unsalted butter over low heat. Remove from heat and stir in 1.5 cups granulated sugar and 0.5 cups brown sugar until smooth.

  3. 3

    Add Eggs and Vanilla

Whisk in 3 large eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract.

  4. 4

    Combine Dry Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together 1 cup of all-purpose flour, 0.75 cups of unsweetened cocoa powder, and 0.5 teaspoons of salt.

  5. 5

    Mix Brownie Batter

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the melted butter mixture, stirring until just combined. Fold in 1 cup of chocolate chips.

  6. 6

    Pour into Pan

Spread the brownie batter evenly into the prepared baking pan and set aside.

  1. 7

In a large bowl, cream together 0.5 cups of unsalted butter, 0.5 cups of granulated sugar, and 0.5 cups of brown sugar until light and fluffy.

  2. 8

Beat in 1 large egg and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until well combined.

  3. 9

In another bowl, whisk together 1.5 cups of all-purpose flour, 0.5 teaspoons of baking soda, and 0.25 teaspoons of salt.

  4. 10

Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined. Fold in 1 cup of chocolate chips.

  5. 11

Drop spoonfuls of the cookie dough over the brownie layer in the pan, spreading it gently to cover as evenly as possible.

Baking

  1. 12

    Bake the Brookies

Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs.

  2. 13

    Cool and Serve

Allow the brookies to cool in the pan for at least 15 minutes before cutting into squares and serving.
