Method

Waffle Preparation

  1. 1

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.

  2. 2

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, melted unsalted butter (if using), and vanilla extract until smooth.

  3. 3

    Combine Mixtures

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Stir gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; a few lumps are okay.

  4. 4

    Preheat Waffle Iron

Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer's instructions. Lightly grease it with cooking spray if necessary.

  5. 5

    Cook Waffles

Pour an appropriate amount of batter into the preheated waffle iron (usually about 1 cup, depending on the size of your waffle iron). Close the lid and cook according to the manufacturer's instructions, usually about 4-5 minutes, or until the waffles are golden brown.

Egg and Bacon Preparation

  1. 6

    Cook Bacon

In a skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon slices until crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Flip halfway through for even cooking. Remove from skillet and place on paper towels to drain excess fat.

  2. 7

    Cook Eggs

In the same skillet, crack the eggs and season with salt and pepper. Cook to your desired doneness: sunny-side up, over-easy, or scrambled, about 2-4 minutes.

Serving

  1. 8

    Plate and Serve

On each plate, stack the freshly made waffle, add a tablespoon of butter on top, drizzle with maple syrup, and serve with the cooked eggs and crispy bacon on the side.
