Cocktail Preparation

- 2
Combine ingredients
In a mixing glass add 2 oz cognac, 0.5 oz dry vermouth, 0.25 oz Yellow Chartreuse, 0.25 oz orange curaçao, 0.25 oz demerara syrup, 2 dashes Angostura bitters, and 1 dash orange bitters.
- 3
Add ice and stir
Fill the mixing glass with large, fresh ice cubes and stir gently but thoroughly for 30–45 seconds until the mixture is well chilled (to about 10–12°F below room temperature) and properly diluted (roughly 20–25% water by volume).
- 4
Strain
Discard ice/water from the chilled glass if you used it to chill. Double strain the cocktail into the chilled coupe or Nick & Nora glass using a julep strainer and a fine mesh strainer to catch any tiny shards of ice or solids.
- 5
Garnish and serve
Express the oils from a large orange peel over the surface of the cocktail by holding the peel skin-side down about 4–6 inches above the drink and giving it a firm squeeze so oils spray onto the surface. Rim the glass with the orange peel and drop the peel into the drink or rest it on the rim. Optionally add a Luxardo or brandied cherry on a pick.
