Moscow Mule (per cocktail)
Equipment & finishing
Method
Prepare drink
- 1
- 2
Fill the chilled mule mug about three-quarters full with fresh ice (approximately the 1 cup indicated).
- 3
Add spirit and lime
Measure and pour 2 oz vodka into the mug. Add 0.5 oz freshly squeezed lime juice. If you prefer a slightly sweeter cocktail, add 0.25 oz simple syrup.
- 4
Top with ginger beer
Pour in 4 oz ginger beer gently over the back of a spoon or down the side of the mug to preserve carbonation.
- 5
Stir gently
Use a bar spoon to stir briefly (3–4 turns) to combine the vodka, lime and ginger beer without flattening the drink.
- 6
Garnish and serve
Garnish with a lime wedge or wheel on the rim and, if using, a sprig of fresh mint gently slapped to release aroma. Serve immediately while cold and fizzy.
Notes & alternatives
- 7
To make a larger batch multiply ingredient quantities by the number of servings and combine vodka and lime juice in a pitcher; keep ginger beer chilled and add it to individual mugs just before serving to retain fizz.
- 8
For a spicier profile, use a premium or craft ginger beer with higher ginger bite. For a lighter cocktail, reduce vodka to 1.5 oz and increase ginger beer to 5 oz.
