Method
Pastry of the Day
Warm and serve pastries
If pastries are room temperature or refrigerated, preheat oven to 325°F (160°C). Place pastries on a baking sheet lined with parchment and heat for 5–8 minutes until warmed through and slightly crisp on the outside. For a quicker option, microwave a pastry on medium power for 10–15 seconds, checking to avoid sogginess. Serve two pastries per person with 1 tablespoon unsalted butter and 2 teaspoons jam on the side.
Fresh Fruit
Prepare fruit
Wash and dry the fruit. Hull and slice berries if using large strawberries; peel and slice melon, pineapple, kiwi, or apple as desired. Combine approximately 1 cup of assorted pieces per serving in a bowl. Toss gently with 1 teaspoon lemon juice if using to prevent browning and brighten flavor. Garnish with 1–2 sprigs of fresh mint.
Choice of Beverage
Brew coffee
Brew one cup (8 oz) of coffee using your preferred method (drip, pour-over, or French press). Pour into a cup and offer 2 tablespoons of milk or cream and 1 teaspoon sugar on the side so guests can adjust to taste.
Serve juice
Chill chosen juice ahead of service. Pour 8 oz into a glass and serve immediately with the pastry and fruit.
