Method
Prepare Fruit & Base
Juice the oranges
Roll the oranges on the counter to loosen juice. Cut them in half and use a handheld or electric juicer to extract enough juice to equal 1 cup. Strain through a small sieve if you want pulp-free juice.
Measure 1 cup of apple juice and 1 cup of chilled filtered water. Combine the orange juice, apple juice, and water in a large measuring cup or pitcher.
Sweeten & Flavor
Add 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice to the pitcher to brighten the flavors.
Optionally add 1 teaspoon vanilla extract for a mild, kid-friendly flavor. Stir well to combine all liquids.
Serve
Taste and adjust: if the juice is too strong, add up to 1/2 cup more water; if too tart, add another 1/2 teaspoon sweetener (only if appropriate for the child's age).
Fill glasses with ice cubes (about 3-4 each). Pour the juice over the ice.
Garnish each glass with thin apple or orange slices and a mint leaf if desired. Serve immediately chilled.
