Onion Rings
Method
Preparation
Prepare the Onions
Peel the onions and slice them into 1/4 inch thick rings. Separate the rings and set them aside.
Make the Batter
In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and paprika. Gradually add the cold water while mixing until you achieve a smooth batter.
Heat the Oil
In a deep frying pan or pot, heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
Coat and Fry the Onion Rings
Dip each onion ring into the batter, allowing excess to drip off. Carefully place the battered rings into the hot oil and fry in batches for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from the oil and drain on paper towels.
Serve
Serve the crispy onion rings hot with ranch dip on the side.
