Brewing Process
1. Prepare the Water
Start by heating the water to around 75°C (167°F) in a large pot.
2. Mashing
Add the barley malt to the heated water and allow it to sit for 60 minutes. This will convert the starches in the malt into fermentable sugars.
3. Boiling
After mashing, bring the mixture to a boil and add hops. Boil for 60 minutes to extract flavors.
4. Cooling
Cool the mixture quickly to about 20°C (68°F) using a wort chiller or an ice bath.
5. Fermentation
Transfer the cooled mixture to a fermentation vessel, add yeast, and seal with an airlock. Allow it to ferment for 7-10 days.
6. Non-Alcoholic Process
After fermentation, gently heat the beer to evaporate the alcohol, keeping the temperature below 80°C (176°F).
7. Carbonation
Add a small amount of sugar before bottling to carbonate the beer. Bottle and seal, then let it carbonate for 1-2 weeks.
8. Final Preparation
Chill the bottles in the refrigerator before serving. Enjoy your Heineken Zero!
