The finest quality ingredients are combined for a refreshing lager with hints of grassy hops aromas & a crisp hoppy bitterness.

In a large brew kettle, heat 6 liters of water to 66°C (150°F). Add Pilsner malt and caramel malt, stirring well. Maintain the temperature for 60 minutes to convert starches to sugars.

Mashing

After mashing, sparge with hot water (75°C or 167°F) to rinse the grains. Collect the wort in the brew kettle.

Sparging

Bring the wort to a boil. Once boiling, add Saaz hops and boil for 60 minutes. After 45 minutes, add Cascade hops for additional aroma.

Boiling

After boiling, cool the wort quickly using a wort chiller or ice bath until it reaches approximately 20°C (68°F).

Cooling

Transfer the cooled wort to a sanitized fermentation vessel. Pitch the yeast (lager yeast) and seal with an airlock. Ferment at 10-12°C (50-54°F) for 2-3 weeks.

Fermentation

After fermentation, transfer the lager to a keg or bottles. Condition at 0-4°C (32-39°F) for an additional 2-4 weeks to develop flavor.

Conditioning

Once conditioning is complete, pour into a glass and enjoy your refreshing Granville Island Brewing Nat Bailey Lager!
