Cream Cheese Frosting

Method

Preparation Steps

1

Prepare the Dough

In a small saucepan, heat milk until warm (not boiling). Remove from heat, sprinkle yeast over the milk, and let it sit for about 5 minutes until foamy. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt. Add the yeast mixture, melted butter, and eggs. Mix until a dough forms.

2

Knead the Dough

Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm area for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

3

Prepare the Cinnamon Sugar

In a bowl, mix granulated sugar and ground cinnamon. Set aside.

4

Shape the Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and tear it into small pieces. Roll each piece into a ball, then dip in the melted butter and roll in the cinnamon sugar mixture. Place the coated dough balls in a greased bundt pan, sprinkling chopped pecans between layers.

5

Second Rise

Cover the bundt pan with a cloth and let it rise for another 30 minutes.

6

Bake the Monkey Bread

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the monkey bread for 30-35 minutes until golden brown. Let it cool for a few minutes before inverting onto a plate.

7

Prepare the Frosting

In a mixing bowl, beat together softened cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.

8

Serve

Drizzle the cream cheese frosting over the warm monkey bread and serve warm.
