Tequila Sunrise Mimosa - Cocktail

Method

Tequila Sunrise Mimosa - Method

1

Prepare glass and ingredients

Chill the sparkling wine and orange juice ahead of time (refrigerate at least 1 hour). If you prefer a chilled stemmed flute, place the empty glass in the freezer for 10–15 minutes or add a few ice cubes to a stemless glass and then discard them before pouring.

2

Add tequila and orange juice

Pour 1 oz silver tequila into a chilled champagne flute or stemless wine glass. Add 4 oz chilled orange juice and gently stir once with a bar spoon to combine the tequila and juice without flattening the bubbles too much.

3

Top with sparkling wine

Slowly pour 3 oz chilled brut sparkling wine down the side of the glass (or over the back of a spoon) to top the cocktail while preserving effervescence. Pour gently to avoid overflow.

4

Create the sunrise effect

Carefully drizzle 0.5 oz grenadine into the center of the drink. The grenadine is heavier and will sink to the bottom and then slowly rise, creating the graduated red-to-orange 'sunrise' effect. Do not stir after adding grenadine.

5

Garnish and serve

Garnish with an orange slice on the rim and a maraschino cherry dropped into the glass if desired. Serve immediately while sparkling wine is still fizzy.

6

Optional: If you used ice in a stemless glass, serve with a short straw so the guest can sip through the layered effect; if using a flute, serve without straw.
