Cocktail

Method

Prepare glass

1

Chill and rim

Place a coupe or martini glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes or fill with ice water while you prep. Run the lemon wedge around the rim of the chilled glass to moisten, then dip the rim lightly into the granulated sugar placed on a small plate to create an even sugared rim. Set the glass aside.

Mixing

2

Combine ingredients

Fill a cocktail shaker with the ice. Add 2 oz vodka, 1 oz fresh lemon juice, 0.75 oz simple syrup, and 0.5 oz Triple sec or Cointreau to the shaker.

3

Shake

Secure the shaker and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the shaker is well chilled and slightly frosted (this chills and dilutes the cocktail to the right balance).

4

Double strain

If you used fresh lemon juice (recommended), fine-strain the cocktail through a Hawthorne and/or fine mesh strainer into the prepared sugared glass to remove any ice shards and pulp for a silky texture.

Finish & Serve

5

Express a lemon twist over the drink to release oils, wipe the twist around the rim if desired, and drop it into the cocktail (or perch it on the rim). Alternatively, garnish with the lemon wedge. Serve immediately.
