Frosty Root Beer Float (serves 2)

Simple Vanilla Root Beer Float (single-serve proportions and extras)

Method

Frosty Root Beer Float (serves 2)

1

Chill glassware

Place two tall serving glasses in the freezer for 10–15 minutes if possible. Chilled glasses keep the float frosty longer.

2

Scoop ice cream

Remove the ice cream from the freezer a few minutes before assembling so it scoops smoothly but remains firm. Place 1.5 generous scoops into each chilled glass (about 3 scoops total split between two glasses).

3

Pour root beer

Hold the glass at a slight angle and slowly pour 12 fl oz of chilled A&W root beer into each glass over the back of a spoon or down the side to reduce excessive foaming. Pour until the glass is nearly full, allowing foam to rise above the ice cream.

4

Top and garnish

Gently spoon or pipe approximately 2 tablespoons of whipped cream on top of each float. Place a maraschino cherry on the whipped cream and drizzle with chocolate or caramel if using.

5

Serve immediately

Serve with a long spoon and a wide straw. Encourage guests to mix the melted float with the remaining root beer as they enjoy it so none of the frothy sweetness goes to waste.

Simple Vanilla Root Beer Float (single-serve)

6

Chill a single tall glass in the freezer for 10 minutes (optional).

7

Place 1.5 scoops of vanilla ice cream into the glass.

8

Slowly pour 12 fl oz of chilled A&W root beer into the glass at an angle to minimize overflowing. Leave room for foam.

9

Top with 2 tablespoons of whipped cream and a maraschino cherry. Serve immediately with a spoon and straw.
