Fried Shrimp Ingredients
Method
Fried Shrimp Preparation
Prepare the Shrimp
Rinse the shrimp in cold water and pat them dry with paper towels.
Make the Batter
In a bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. In another bowl, whisk together the buttermilk and egg.
Coat the Shrimp
Dip each shrimp first into the buttermilk mixture, then dredge in the flour mixture until fully coated.
Heat the Oil
In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the oil to 350°F (175°C).
Fry the Shrimp
Carefully place the coated shrimp in the hot oil, working in batches if necessary. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
Drain and Serve
Remove the shrimp from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve hot.
