Method

Bread & Spreads

1

Prepare toast

Spread 1 tablespoon mayonnaise on one side of each slice of Texas toast (6 slices total). Spread softened butter on the outside face of each slice (opposite side from mayo) for grilling.

2

Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium heat until hot but not smoking.

3

Place the buttered sides of the bread down on the hot skillet. Cook 2–3 minutes until golden brown and crisp, then flip and toast the mayo side briefly (about 30–45 seconds) just to warm. Remove and set aside.

Meats & Cheeses

4

If bacon is not cooked, cook 8 slices in a skillet or on a sheet pan at 400°F (200°C) until crisp, about 12–15 minutes, then drain on paper towels. If already cooked, warm briefly in the skillet for 30–60 seconds per side.

5

Warm the sliced turkey and ham briefly in the skillet (10–20 seconds per side) just to take the chill off so the sandwich stacks settle. Keep meats in even slices for easy stacking.

6

Place 1 slice Swiss and 1 slice American cheese on one piece of toasted bread to create a melty layer if you want the cheese slightly melted; place briefly (15–20 seconds) under a warm skillet or cover to help melt, or leave cold per preference.

Produce & Assembly

7

Slice the tomato into 1/4-inch (6 mm) thick rounds. Lightly season tomato slices with a pinch of salt and pepper (use approx. 1/4 tsp each across the slices).

8

On one toasted slice (mayo side up), layer: 2 slices turkey, 2 slices bacon, 2 tomato slices, and 2 lettuce leaves. Top with a second toasted slice (mayo side down) to form the bottom-half of the stack.

9

On that middle slice (mayo side up), layer: 2 slices ham, 1 slice Swiss, 1 slice American, 2 slices turkey (remaining), 2 slices bacon (remaining), and remaining lettuce. Top with the final toasted slice (mayo side down).

10

Press down gently to compress the sandwich into a neat stack. Insert toothpicks or sandwich picks through the top into the sandwich at four corners to secure.

Finishing

11

Using a sharp knife, trim off crusts if desired and cut the sandwich into quarters diagonally to create classic club triangles.

12

Serve immediately while toast is still warm. Provide extra mayo on the side if desired.
