Build and stir
Place 3 large ice cubes into a mixing glass or a rocks glass. Add 1 oz gin, 1 oz sweet vermouth, and 1 oz Campari. Stir gently for 20–30 seconds (about 20–30 full turns) until the mixture is well chilled and slightly diluted.

Prepare glass and garnish
If you used a mixing glass, strain the stirred mixture into a chilled rocks glass over one large fresh ice cube or into the rocks glass containing the 3 large ice cubes. Express the oils from an orange peel over the surface by holding the peel skin-side down about 3–4 inches above the drink and giving it a quick, firm twist, then rub the peel around the rim and drop it into the glass as garnish.

Serve immediately. Optionally, serve with a short cocktail pick through the orange peel for presentation.
