Method
Mojito
- 1
Prepare glass
Choose a highball or Collins glass (10–12 oz). Add the fresh mint leaves (about 8–10) to the bottom of the glass.
- 2
Muddle mint
If using simple syrup: add 0.75 oz simple syrup to the glass. If not using syrup: sprinkle 1/2 tsp granulated sugar over the mint and add 1/4 oz lime juice. Gently muddle the mint with a muddler or the back of a spoon 6–8 times — press to release the aromatic oils but avoid shredding the leaves into tiny fragments.
- 3
Add lime juice
Pour 1 oz freshly squeezed lime juice into the glass. If you used the sugar alternative above, the partial lime juice may already be present; ensure total lime juice equals 1 oz.

Garnish and serve
Garnish with a lime wedge or wheel on the rim and a fresh mint sprig. Optionally clap the mint sprig between your palms to release aroma before garnishing. Serve with a straw.
