Preparation

1

Rim the glass

Run a lime wedge around the outer rim of a chilled coupe or rocks glass. Spread the coarse salt or Tajín on a small plate and press the rim lightly into it to coat about half to three-quarters of the rim, depending on preference.

2

Shake the base Margarita

Fill a cocktail shaker with the measured ice. Add 2 oz blanco tequila, 1 oz Cointreau, 1 oz fresh lime juice, and 0.25 oz agave syrup (omit or adjust to taste if you prefer drier). Secure the shaker lid and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds until well chilled (shaker should frost).

3

Strain

Double-strain the shaken cocktail into the prepared chilled coupe or rocks glass over fresh ice if serving on the rocks, or without ice for a straight-up presentation.

Finish & Serve

4

Top with Champagne

Carefully top the strained Margarita with 2 oz chilled Mumm Champagne (or other brut). Pour slowly down the side of the glass to preserve effervescence and create a gentle float of bubbles.

5

Garnish and serve

Garnish with a lime wheel on the rim or floated on top. Serve immediately so the Champagne stays effervescent.
