Method
Classic Margarita
- 1
Prepare glass
Rub a lime wedge around the rim of a rocks or coupe glass. Dip the rim into coarse salt to coat. Set aside.
- 2
Mix cocktail
In a cocktail shaker, combine 2 oz tequila, 1 oz fresh lime juice, 1 oz orange liqueur, 0.5 oz agave syrup and a handful of ice cubes. Seal and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds until well chilled.
- 3
Old Fashioned
- 4
Build drink
Place 0.25 oz simple or demerara syrup in an old-fashioned glass. Add 2 dashes Angostura bitters and a splash (about 0.25 oz) of water if desired. Add 2 oz bourbon or rye.
- 5
Stir and garnish
Add one large ice cube and stir gently for 20–30 seconds until slightly diluted and chilled. Express the orange peel over the glass to release oils, run the peel around the rim, then drop it in as garnish.
Gin & Tonic
Espresso Martini
- 8
Prepare espresso
Brew 1 oz of fresh espresso. Let it cool slightly (or use freshly brewed hot espresso if you prefer a more diluted shake).
- 9
Shake
Fill a shaker with ice. Add 1.5 oz vodka, 1 oz coffee liqueur, 1 oz espresso, and 0.25 oz simple syrup (optional). Shake very hard for 15–20 seconds to create a frothy crema.
- 10
Strain and garnish
Double-strain into a chilled coupe glass. Garnish with 3 coffee beans laid on top of the crema.
Mojito
- 11
Muddle mint
In a tall glass or julep tin, add 10 fresh mint leaves, 0.75 oz simple syrup (or 0.75 oz sugar and a splash of lime juice to help dissolve), and 0.75 oz fresh lime juice. Gently muddle the mint 6–8 times — press to release oils but avoid tearing the leaves into bits.
- 12
Add rum and ice
Add 2 oz white rum. Fill the glass with crushed ice (or regular ice if unavailable).
