Chocolate Martini
Method
Chocolate Martini
Prep glass
Chill a martini or coupe glass in the freezer for at least 10 minutes. Meanwhile, place the chocolate syrup on a small plate. Remove the chilled glass and drip or dip the rim lightly into the chocolate syrup to create a thin chocolate rim. If desired, drizzle a little syrup inside the glass in a spiral before chilling it again briefly while you make the cocktail.
Combine ingredients
Fill a cocktail shaker with the ice. Add 2 oz vodka, 1 oz chocolate liqueur, 1 oz heavy cream (or half-and-half), and 1 tsp simple syrup if you prefer a sweeter drink. Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of chocolate syrup into the shaker if you want a richer chocolate flavor (optional).
Shake
Seal the shaker and shake vigorously for 15–20 seconds until the outside of the shaker is very cold and the mixture is well-chilled and slightly aerated. This creates a silky texture from the cream.
Strain and serve
Double-strain the mixture into the prepared chilled martini glass using a cocktail strainer (and a fine mesh strainer if available) to remove ice shards and any lumps of chocolate syrup.
Garnish
Finish by sprinkling about 1 tsp chocolate shavings or a light dusting of cocoa powder over the top. Optionally, rest a dark chocolate curl or small piece on the rim or float it on the surface.
Serve
Serve immediately while cold. Sip slowly to enjoy the creamy chocolate flavor.
