Preparation Directions
Cook the Shrimp
In a large pot, bring 4 cups of water and 1 tablespoon of salt to a boil. Add the Gulf shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes until they turn pink and opaque. Remove from heat and plunge shrimp into an ice bath to stop cooking. Drain and set aside.
Make the Smoked Chili Cocktail Sauce
In a bowl, combine 1 cup ketchup, 1 tablespoon smoked chili powder, 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce, and 1 tablespoon finely chopped jalapeño. Mix well and adjust seasoning with lemon juice, salt, and pepper to taste.
Make the Jalapeno Tartar Sauce
In another bowl, mix 1 cup mayonnaise, 1 tablespoon lemon juice, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 1 teaspoon salt, and 1 teaspoon pepper. Stir in any remaining chopped jalapeño to taste.
Serve
Arrange the cooked shrimp on a serving platter with the smoked chili cocktail sauce and jalapeno tartar sauce on the side. Garnish with lemon halves.
