Ingredients
Wine
Optional serving accompaniments
Prepare and serve
1. Chill (if necessary)
If the bottle is not already chilled, place the Chardonnay in the refrigerator for 2–3 hours before serving, or set the bottle in an ice bucket with equal parts ice and cold water for 20–30 minutes until it reaches 8–12°C (46–54°F).
2. Glassware
Select a clean white-wine glass (tulip-shaped or U-shaped bowl). This shape concentrates the wine's aromas while allowing a comfortable sip.
3. Pour
Hold the bottle at the base and pour approximately 1 cup (about 150 ml) of Chardonnay into the glass. Fill to about one-third full to allow room for aromas to concentrate.
4. Optional chilling with ice
If you prefer your wine extra cold and are serving casually, add 2–4 ice cubes to the glass. Note that ice will dilute and mute flavors as it melts, so use this only if preferred.
5. Garnish (optional)
If desired, finish with a thin apple slice floated on the rim or a lemon wedge on the glass for a subtle aromatic hint. This is purely decorative and optional.
6. Enjoy: Swirl gently to release aromas, inhale, then take a small sip to assess acidity, fruit, and any oak influence. Pair with light fish, shellfish, poultry, or soft cheeses as desired.
