Method

Bread & Spreads

1

Toast the bread

Lightly butter one side of each wheat bread slice if desired. Toast until golden and crisp (about 2–3 minutes per side in a skillet over medium heat, or 3–4 minutes total in a toaster). Let cool on a rack 1–2 minutes so spreads don’t slide.

2

Apply spreads

On the unbuttered (or non-toasted) side of each slice, spread mayonnaise evenly on one slice (approximately 1 tablespoon), spread spicy brown mustard on a second slice (approximately 1 teaspoon). Reserve the third slice plain or lightly mayo-spread depending on preference; this will create the three-layer stack.

Protein & Cheese

3

Cook the bacon

In a skillet over medium heat, cook the 3 bacon strips until crisp, about 6–8 minutes, turning occasionally. Transfer to paper towels to drain and cool slightly.

4

Assemble cheese & turkey layers

Place one toasted slice (mayo side up) on your work surface. Top with 2 oz (about half) of sliced turkey, then 1 Swiss cheese slice. Place the second toasted slice (mustard side up) on top of the cheese. On that second slice, add the remaining turkey (about 2 oz) and the second Swiss slice. This creates two stacked layers with the center slice acting as the middle bread.

Produce

5

Prepare tomato & lettuce

Slice the tomato into 1/4-inch thick rounds (discard stem). Lightly season tomato slices with a pinch of kosher salt and a pinch of black pepper (divide the listed amounts between slices). Use 2 leaves of lettuce, rinsed and patted dry; tear or trim to fit the bread.

6

Add bacon, tomato & lettuce

On top of the uppermost Swiss cheese slice, lay the 3 cooked bacon strips evenly. Arrange the seasoned tomato slices over the bacon, then place the lettuce leaves on top of the tomato. Place the third toasted bread slice (mayo- or plain-side down per preference) to complete the triple-decker.

Seasoning & Finishes

7

Press the sandwich down gently to compact slightly. Using a sharp knife, cut the sandwich vertically into halves or diagonally into quarters. If desired, secure each section with a toothpick to hold layers. Serve immediately.
