Chill glass
If possible, chill a large wine glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes or fill it briefly with ice water, then discard the water before preparing the drink.
Fill the chilled wine glass generously with ice cubes (enough to nearly fill the glass). This keeps the drink cold and maintains proper dilution.
Pour the Aperol into the glass over the ice: use 3 parts Aperol (for example, 3 oz if using ounces, or 90 ml if using ml).
Add the chilled Prosecco: pour 2 parts (for example, 2 oz or 60 ml) gently over the Aperol. Pour slowly to preserve bubbles.
Top with chilled soda water: add 1 part (for example, 1 oz or 30 ml) of soda water. Pour gently to maintain effervescence.
Briefly stir one or two times with a bar spoon to integrate the ingredients. Do not over-stir — keep the drink bubbly.
Garnish with one fresh orange slice placed on the rim or floated in the drink.
Serve immediately while cold and effervescent.
