Hot Tea (Regular, per 1 cup)

Method

Hot Tea (Regular, per 1 cup)

1

Heat water

Pour 1 cup (240 ml) fresh cold water into a kettle or saucepan. Heat until it reaches a gentle boil (about 100°C / 212°F). For black tea, a rolling boil is appropriate.

2

Pre-warm cup or teapot

Optional: Pour a little hot water into the teapot or cup, swirl and discard. This helps maintain infusion temperature.

3

Steep tea

Place the black tea bag or 1 tsp loose-leaf tea into the warmed cup or teapot. Pour the boiling water over the tea. Cover and steep for 3 to 5 minutes, depending on desired strength (3 min for lighter, 5 min for robust).

4

Remove tea and finish

Remove and discard the tea bag or strain out loose leaves. Taste and add 1 tsp honey or sugar if desired. Add 1 tbsp milk or cream for a creamier cup if desired. Squeeze in half a lemon wedge if you prefer citrus (do not combine lemon with milk). Stir gently and serve immediately.

Decaf Tea (per 1 cup)

5

Heat water (adjust temp by tea type)

Pour 1 cup (240 ml) fresh cold water into a kettle. Heat to the appropriate temperature: for decaf black tea use near-boiling (95–100°C / 203–212°F); for decaf green tea heat to 75–80°C (170–176°F); for herbal tisanes use boiling water.

6

Pre-warm cup or teapot

Optional: Pre-warm your cup or teapot by swirling a little hot water inside, then discard.

7

Steep decaf tea

Place the decaffeinated tea bag or 1 tsp loose-leaf into the cup or teapot. Pour the heated water over the tea. Cover and steep for the recommended time: decaf black 3–5 minutes, decaf green 2–3 minutes, herbal 5–7 minutes. Adjust time to taste.

8

Remove tea and finish

Remove the tea bag or strain out loose leaves. Sweeten with 1 tsp honey or sugar if desired. Add 1 tbsp milk or cream if using (avoid milk with lemon). Stir and serve hot.

Serving & Notes

9

Serve each cup immediately while hot. If brewing multiple cups in a teapot, increase water and tea proportionally (approximately 1 tea bag or 1 tsp loose leaf per cup). Adjust steeping times slightly if brewing larger volumes. Store unused decaffeinated tea in an airtight container away from heat and light.
