Equipment & Extras
Method
Coffee (Regular)
Grind beans
Weigh 35 g (0.035 kg) of whole coffee beans. Grind to the consistency appropriate for your brewing method: medium-coarse for French press, medium for drip/pour-over, fine for espresso.
Heat water
Bring 500 ml filtered water to a temperature of 92–96°C (197–205°F). If you don't have a thermometer, bring to a boil and let sit 30 seconds.
Brew
Brew using your chosen method with a coffee-to-water ratio of about 1:14 (35 g coffee to 500 ml water): - French press: Add grounds to the press, pour half the hot water, stir gently, add remaining water, steep 4 minutes, then press slowly. - Drip/pour-over: Place filter and grounds, wet grounds to bloom for 30 seconds with a small amount of water, then pour the remaining water steadily until finished. - Espresso: Dose and tamp about 18–20 g per single/double shot and pull shots per your machine settings (note: espresso uses a different ratio; the provided ratio is for drip/French press).
Storage/Notes
Serve immediately for best flavor. Leftover brewed coffee can be refrigerated up to 48 hours and reheated, though flavor will degrade.
Decaf Coffee
Grind decaf beans
Weigh 35 g (0.035 kg) of decaffeinated whole beans. Grind to the consistency appropriate for your brewing method (same guidelines as regular coffee).
Heat water
Bring 500 ml filtered water to 92–96°C (197–205°F) or boil and rest 30 seconds.
Brew
Brew decaf using the same method and coffee-to-water ratio as regular coffee (1:14). Follow the specific steps for your chosen device (French press, drip/pour-over, espresso). Ensure equipment is clean to avoid flavor transfer.
Storage/Notes
Best consumed fresh. Store any leftover refrigerated up to 48 hours.
Equipment & Extras
If using whole beans, grind immediately before brewing to preserve aroma. Clean grinder and brewer between regular and decaf batches if preparing both to avoid cross-contamination of flavors.
Adjust grind size, dose, and brew time to taste: coarser grind for weaker/slower extraction, finer grind for stronger/faster extraction. For single-cup servings, scale ingredients proportionally (e.g., 10–12 g coffee per 180–240 ml water).
