Method

Prep

1

Rim the glass

Run the lime wedge around the outer rim of a Collins or highball glass. Dip the rim into coarse salt or Tajín placed on a small plate to evenly coat. Set the glass aside.

2

Fill the rimmed glass with ice to chill while you build the drink.

Mixing

3

Combine ingredients

In a cocktail shaker or mixing glass filled halfway with ice, add 2 oz Milagro tequila, 0.5 oz fresh lime juice, 2 oz fresh grapefruit juice, and 0.25 oz agave syrup if using. Shake vigorously for 8–10 seconds to chill and lightly dilute.

4

Strain and top

Discard the ice from the chilled serving glass. Strain the shaken mixture into the glass over fresh ice (about 3/4 cup). Top with 2 oz sour grapefruit soda. Gently stir once to combine.

Finish

5

Taste and adjust: if you prefer sweeter, add up to an additional 0.25 oz agave and stir gently. If brighter, add a small squeeze of the remaining lime wedge.

6

Garnish with a grapefruit wedge or twist on the rim and the used lime wedge. Serve immediately.
