Cocktail
Optional (for extra froth/texture)
Method
Cocktail
Combine ingredients
In a cocktail shaker, add the Tito's vodka (2 oz), cooled espresso (1 oz), Mr. Black coffee liqueur (1 oz), and simple syrup (0.25 oz). If using egg white for extra froth, add 0.5 oz (about half an egg white or 15 ml pasteurized) now.
Dry shake (if using egg white)
If you added egg white, seal the shaker and shake vigorously without ice for 10–15 seconds to emulsify and build foam.
Shake with ice
Add ice (about 6 large cubes) to the shaker. Seal and shake vigorously for 12–18 seconds until the exterior of the shaker is very cold and the drink is well-aerated. This both chills the cocktail and produces a glossy crema.
Strain
Dump the ice and water from the chilled glass. Double-strain the cocktail into the chilled coupe or martini glass using a Hawthorne or julep strainer and a fine mesh strainer to remove small ice shards and any coagulated egg white.
Garnish
Float three coffee beans on the surface of the cocktail for aroma and presentation.
Serve
Serve immediately while the top has a glossy crema. Sip and enjoy.
