Method

Cake Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure it's hot enough to bake the cake evenly.

  2. 2

    Prepare Cake Pans

Grease two 9-inch round cake pans with butter or cooking spray and lightly dust with flour to prevent sticking.

  3. 3

    Combine Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.

  4. 4

    Mix Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract until smooth.

  5. 5

    Combine Wet and Dry Mixtures

Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

  6. 6

    Add Boiling Water

Slowly stir in the boiling water to the cake batter. This will thin the batter but will help create a moist cake.

  7. 7

    Pour into Pans

Evenly divide the cake batter between the prepared cake pans.

  8. 8

    Bake the Cakes

Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  9. 9

    Cool the Cakes

Once baked, remove the cakes from the oven and allow them to cool in the pans for 10 minutes. Then, transfer to wire racks to cool completely.

Serving

  1. 10

    Serve with Ice Cream

Once the cakes are completely cool, slice and serve them with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side.
