Method
Prep the Fruit
- 1
Prepare melon and pineapple
Peel and remove seeds from the melon, then cut into approximately 1-inch cubes until you have about 2 cups. Peel, core and chop fresh pineapple into 1-inch pieces to yield about 1 cup. Place both in a bowl.
- 2
Prepare apple
Core and roughly chop the apple (peeling optional) to make about 1 cup of pieces. Add to the bowl with the melon and pineapple.
Blend
- 3
Combine and puree
Working in batches if necessary, place the melon, pineapple, and apple pieces into a blender. Add the fresh orange juice and lemon juice. Blend on high until very smooth, about 45β60 seconds. If the mixture is too thick, add 2β4 tablespoons of cold water to help it blend.
- 4
Sweeten and adjust
Taste the blended fruit. If you prefer it sweeter, add 1 tablespoon honey or agave syrup and blend briefly (5β10 seconds) to incorporate. Adjust acidity with an extra 1/2 tablespoon lemon juice if needed.
Finish & Serve
- 5
Dilute and chill
Pour the blended juice into a pitcher. Stir in the remaining cold water or sparkling water (about 1 cup) to reach the desired consistency. Add ice cubes to chill quickly; if you prefer a frosty drink, blend the mixture with the ice instead of adding it to the pitcher.
- 6
Strain (optional)
If you want a smoother juice, pour the blended mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into another pitcher or bowl, using a spatula to press out the liquid. Discard pulp or save for smoothies.
- 7
Garnish and serve
Pour the finished 'High Five' into 4 chilled glasses over ice. Garnish each with a mint leaf and a thin slice of orange or apple if desired. Serve immediately.
