Preparation
Make the Coffee Mixture
Brew strong coffee and let it cool. If using, mix in coffee liqueur.
Prepare the Cream Mixture
In a mixing bowl, combine mascarpone cheese, heavy cream, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract. Whip until soft peaks form.
Layer the Tiramisu
Dip each ladyfinger in the coffee mixture for a few seconds and layer them in the bottom of a serving dish. Spread half of the cream mixture over the ladyfingers.
Repeat Layers
Add another layer of dipped ladyfingers and top with the remaining cream mixture.
Chill and Serve
Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight. Before serving, dust with cocoa powder.
