Method
Preparation
- 1
Chill glass
Place a coupe or small cocktail glass in the freezer for at least 5 minutes to chill while you prepare the drink.
- 2
Measure and juice
Freshly squeeze the lime and lemon to obtain 1 oz lime juice and 0.25 oz lemon juice. Measure out the simple syrup, white grape juice, non-alcoholic rum alternative, cherry juice, and water.
Mixing
- 3
Combine ingredients
In a cocktail shaker, add the lime juice, lemon juice, simple syrup, filtered water, white grape juice, non-alcoholic rum alternative and maraschino cherry juice.
- 4
Add ice
Fill the shaker with crushed ice (about 1 to 1.5 cups) until roughly three-quarters full. Crushed ice chills and dilutes quickly, mimicking the texture of a classic daiquiri.
- 5
Shake hard
Secure the shaker and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the outside of the shaker is very cold and a layer of frost forms. This properly chills and dilutes the drink.
- 6
Double strain
Remove the chilled glass from the freezer. Using a hawthorne strainer and a fine mesh strainer (or a julep strainer), double-strain the contents from the shaker into the chilled coupe to remove small ice shards and any pulp.
Garnish & Serve
- 7
Garnish the drink with a lime wheel on the rim and drop a maraschino cherry into the glass for a touch of color and aroma. Serve immediately while cold.
