Honey Garlic Glazed Salmon

Method

Honey Garlic Glazed Salmon

  1. 1

    Prep Salmon

Pat salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Season both sides with kosher salt (about 1/4 tsp per fillet) and freshly ground black pepper. Let sit at room temperature while you make the glaze and start the rice (10 minutes).

  2. 2

    Make Glaze

In a small bowl whisk together honey, low sodium soy sauce, rice vinegar, grated ginger, and sesame oil. In a separate small cup mix cornstarch with 2 tablespoons cold water to slurry and set aside.

  3. 3

    Cook Salmon

Heat 2 tablespoons olive oil and 1 tablespoon butter in a large nonstick or stainless-steel skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering. Place salmon fillets skin-side down and cook undisturbed 4–5 minutes until the skin is crisp and edges are opaque. Flip carefully and cook 2 minutes on the flesh side (adjust time for thickness; total about 6–8 minutes for medium doneness). Remove salmon to a warm plate.

  4. 4

    Finish Glaze

Lower heat to medium and add the minced garlic to the pan; cook 20–30 seconds until fragrant (do not burn). Pour the honey-soy mixture into the pan and bring to a gentle simmer. Stir in the cornstarch slurry and simmer 30–60 seconds until sauce thickens and becomes glossy. Taste and adjust: add more honey if you want sweeter, or 1/2 tsp soy for salt. Stir in toasted sesame seeds if using.

  5. 5

    Glaze Salmon

Return salmon to the pan, spooning the glaze over the fillets to coat. Warm through 30–60 seconds just to meld flavors (do not overcook). Remove from heat and garnish with sliced green onions and an optional squeeze of lemon. Serve immediately alongside rice and broccoli.

Pineapple & Bell Pepper Rice Pilaf

  1. 6

    Prep Ingredients

Rinse rice under cold water until water runs mostly clear. Dice pineapple and bell peppers; finely chop onion and mince garlic.

  2. 7

    Sauté Aromatics

In a medium saucepan heat 1 tablespoon olive oil and 1 tablespoon butter over medium heat. Add chopped onion and cook 2–3 minutes until softened. Add minced garlic and cook 30 seconds until fragrant.

  3. 8

    Toast Rice & Add Liquids

Add the rinsed rice to the pan and stir 1–2 minutes so grains are coated and lightly toasted. Pour in the broth, add salt and pepper, and bring to a gentle boil.

  4. 9

    Simmer

Reduce heat to low, cover the saucepan, and simmer undisturbed for 15 minutes (for jasmine) or until liquid is absorbed and rice is tender. If using different rice, follow package timing (adjust liquid ratio if needed).

  5. 10

    Finish Pilaf

Remove rice from heat and keep covered 5 minutes. Fluff with a fork, then gently fold in diced pineapple and diced bell peppers. Stir in lime juice and chopped cilantro if using. Taste and adjust seasoning.

Steamed Broccoli

  1. 11

    Steam Broccoli

Bring 1 cup water to a simmer in a medium pot fitted with a steamer basket (or use a wide skillet with a lid). Add trimmed broccoli florets to the basket, cover, and steam 4–6 minutes until bright green and tender-crisp (test with a fork).

  2. 12

    Season & Serve

Carefully remove broccoli, shake off excess water, season with 1/2 tsp salt and 1/4 tsp black pepper, and toss with 1 teaspoon olive oil or butter. Serve immediately.
