Method
Fruit Selection
- 1
Wash and prepare fruit
Rinse grapes, strawberries, blueberries and apple under cool running water. Pat dry with a clean towel or paper towel.
- 2
Hull and slice strawberries
Remove the green tops from the strawberries and slice each berry in half (or quarters if large) so they are easy for kids to pick up.
- 3
Slice banana and apple
Peel the banana and cut into 1/4-inch slices. Core the apple and cut into thin slices or wedges appropriate for a child's bite size.
- 4
Segment orange
Peel the orange and separate into segments. Remove any large pith pieces so segments are tidy and easy to eat.
For Serving
- 5
Prevent browning
Lightly brush or toss the apple slices and banana slices with the lemon juice (about 1 tsp total) to slow browning. Use just enough to coat surfaces.
- 6
Assemble plate
Arrange the fruit on a small plate or divided kids plate: place grapes in a small cluster, strawberries in one section, banana and apple slices in another, orange segments and blueberries in remaining spaces. Make the arrangement colorful and varied so itβs appealing to children.
- 7
Add optional items
If using, stir the honey into the plain yogurt and place the yogurt in a small dipping cup on the plate. Garnish the plate with a couple of small mint leaves if desired.
- 8
Serve immediately for best freshness and texture. Keep leftover cut fruit refrigerated in an airtight container and consume within 24 hours.
