Cocktail

Method

Cocktail

  1. 1

    Prepare glass (optional salted rim)

If using a salted rim, run a grapefruit wedge around the glass lip, then dip the rim into a small plate with sea salt to coat lightly. Set the glass aside.

  2. 2

    Combine ingredients

In a cocktail shaker, add 2 tbs Tito's Vodka, 1 tbs elderflower liqueur, 3 oz fresh pink grapefruit juice, 0.5 oz fresh lime juice, and 0.25 oz simple syrup if you prefer a slightly sweeter drink.

  3. 3

    Shake with ice

Fill the shaker with about 1 cup of ice, secure the lid, and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds until the outside of the shaker is cold and slightly frosted (this chills and dilutes the drink properly).

  4. 4

    Double-strain and serve

Strain the shaken cocktail into the prepared glass over fresh ice (or serve neat in a coupe if preferred). Use a fine mesh strainer in addition to the shaker strainer if you want to remove small pulp bits from the fresh grapefruit juice.

Garnish & Finish

  1. 5

Garnish the drink with one grapefruit wheel or wedge on the rim and a sprig of fresh mint tucked beside it. Give the mint a light clap between your hands before adding to release the aroma.

  2. 6

Serve immediately while cold. Pair with light summer hors d'oeuvres or enjoy on its own.
