- 1
Chill glass
Place a coupe or chilled cocktail glass in the freezer for a few minutes or fill it with ice water while you prepare the cocktail to ensure the drink stays cold.
- 2
Measure and add ingredients
Add 2 oz Bacardi Superior, 0.5 oz maraschino liqueur, 0.75 oz fresh lime juice, 0.5 oz fresh grapefruit juice, and 0.25 oz simple syrup into a cocktail shaker.
- 3
Add ice and shake
Fill the shaker with ice (about 1 cup or enough to nearly fill). Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the outside of the shaker is very cold and well‑chilled.
- 4
Strain and serve
Discard the ice or water from the chilled glass. Double strain the cocktail into the chilled coupe using a Hawthorne strainer and a fine mesh strainer (or just a strainer if a fine one isn't available) to remove small ice shards and any pulp.
- 5
Garnish
Garnish with a thin lime wheel or a single cocktail cherry (maraschino or Luxardo). Serve immediately.
